One in 330 boys and one in 420 girls contracts cancer before their 20th birthday. Teenage Cancer Trust exists to ensure that these young adults have the support they need, in particular by building special units to create a positive environment which, research has shown, can improve their chances of recovery by 15%.
Derwent London has been supporting the work of TCT since 2001, facilitating the Trust's ongoing initiative in setting up special units for teenagers in NHS hospitals. Acting as devleopment and design consultant, Derwent London has introduced architects ORMS, Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands and AHMM to new TCT projects which are now being developed in Cardiff and Glasgow. Derwent London is delighted to continue their support for Teenage Cancer Trust, in a unique and creative partnership designed to improve standards of care for teenagers with cancer.

Derwent London dedicated its 2006 fundraising campaign to TCT's Laurie Engel Fund. At a lunch at the Savoy in November 2006, £291,000 was raised through the generosity of 450 guests. All the proceeds have gone to the TCT Laurie Engel Fund where they are being used for the new Birmingham unit, designed by Lifschutz Davidson Sandlilands. www.laurieengelfund.org
