In 2007 Derwent London co-sponsored the Global Cities exhibition at Tate Modern. Curated by Ricky Burdett, Principal Design Advisor to the Olympic Delivery Authority, Director of the 10th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale 2006 and Centenial Professor in Architecture and Urbanism at London School of Economics, the exhibition considered the global trends towards urbanisation. By 2030, two thirds of the world's population will live in cities, compared with just 10% a century ago. The exhibition was extremely popular and ignited the debate about the role and responsibilities of developers in shaping London's future.
