Twelve Squares, 2013
Screen print on Somerset Satin
Sophie Smallhorn has created a single artwork out of a number of separate compositions where colour, form and proportion evolve along a line. Within the nine prints the white empty space is as important to the composition as the printed area where the outline has the quality of a diminishing landscape. The decision to exhibit the piece leant on a shelf felt appropriate to both the aesthetics of the space and the linear quality of the work.
