The Changing Face of London: this is a historic moment in the life of Londoners and the way we shape our city together. After the pandemic, imagining, designing and planning London will never be the same.
It is precisely these unprecedented times that makes it all the more relevant to understand the achievements and the lessons from the past, as we look to the future and how our city may need to adapt.
When we began working with @ahmmarchitects and engineers @arupgroup, the White Collar Factory approach was to anticipate the needs of London's office tenants, rather than respond to established commercial office design trends. This exploration led us to focus on five principles: high ceilings, a thermal-mass structure, simple passive façade, flexible floorplates and 'smart' servicing. Principles we will apply where possible to our future projects.
We look forward to delving into NLA’s #changingfaceofldn exhibition this month, exploring the major changes that have transformed areas, to mark the organisation’s 15th anniversary.
