As we celebrate 10 years of the Derwent London Community Fund, we reflect on the important work of the community organisations we've supported and the impact they've made.
In 2019, a portion of our Community Fund was allocated to St Mary Magdelene Primary School for its new Library Bus; a refurbished Routemaster decked out with rows of books and comfy seating. The school didn't have space for a library inside the building, so the fund went towards overhauling the structure of a bus, which had been sitting empty in the playground for over a year.
"Because of the Derwent London Community Fund, our Library Bus is invaluable in driving the children’s enjoyment of reading." Sandra Simpson, St Mary Magdelene
Over the last decade, our Community Fund has supported various projects, and we will be sharing more stories over the coming months.
